Your Story Could Change Someone's Life

A Film About the Teenage Experience of Living With Cancer

Are you between 14 and 17 and have experienced or are currently living with cancer?

The West Island Cancer Wellness Centre (WICWC) is creating a short film that will explore what it’s really like to live with cancer as a teenager.

We’re inviting teens to share their experiences and perspectives to help shape this film. You can choose to participate in an interview and potentially appear in the film, or simply share your ideas and experiences to help us understand what should be included. Whether you want to be on camera or contribute behind the scenes, we want to hear from you.

We want to hear your story.

Cancer has changed your life.

Maybe it interrupted school.
Maybe it changed your friendships.
Maybe it made you stronger.
Maybe it made you scared.
Maybe it made you feel like no one your age could possibly understand.

Whatever your experience has been, your perspective matters, and someone who has just been diagnosed needs to hear from you.

Why share your experience?

Your story could help:

  • Help another teen feel less alone.
  • Give hope to someone who has just been diagnosed.
  • Show adults what it’s really like to have cancer as a teenager.
  • Inspire other young people to ask for help and connect with support.

There are no scripts and no right or wrong answers. These interviews are an opportunity to speak openly about what living with cancer has been like for you.

We’re simply looking for teens who are willing to share their perspective.

Hear From Someone Who’s Been There

In this video, a teen cancer survivor shares why your voice matters and invites you to help us create a film that reflects the real experiences of young people living with cancer.

Interested in taking part?

If you’re 14 to 17 years old and have experienced cancer, we’d love to hear from you.

Participation involves taking part in an interview where you’ll have the opportunity to talk about your experience in your own words. The stories shared will help shape a film about the teenage experience of living with cancer.

Your voice could help another teenager realize they’re not alone.
